What an Epoxy Garage Floor Costs Per Square Metre
We price epoxy at three finish levels, and these are the same rates our free estimate calculator works from. A standard two-coat system in a solid colour is $85 per square metre. A decorative flake finish - colour flakes broadcast into the coat and sealed under a clear topcoat - is $95 per square metre. A premium metallic finish with marbled depth is $130 per square metre. Two things move the price beyond the finish you pick. The first is condition: a floor with visible wear, moderate cracking or staining carries a 15% loading, and one with significant damage carries 30%, because the repair and preparation work is genuinely bigger. The second is size: small areas carry minimum job charges - $3,000 for standard, $3,500 for flake and $4,500 for metallic, before GST - so a single-car space won't scale down proportionally. Preparation, equipment and the return visits between coats cost much the same whether the floor is 15m² or 40m².
A Worked Example: Pricing a Double Garage
Say your double garage measures 6 metres by 6 metres - 36 square metres of floor in good condition. In standard two-coat epoxy that's 36 × $85 = $3,060, or $3,366 including GST. The same floor in decorative flake works out at 36 × $95 = $3,420 - just under the $3,500 minimum for flake work, so the minimum applies and the job lands at $3,850 including GST. Premium metallic runs 36 × $130 = $4,680, or $5,148 with GST.
For a single-car space of around 12m², the minimum charge does the talking on every finish - the per-square-metre rate matters less than the floor price, and that's worth knowing before you compare quotes.
